Triangle Tolkienists

Founded in February 2019, the Triangle Tolkienists are fans of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, including the legendarium as well as his academic works. Our activities include book clubs, watch parties, and gaming, as well as more casual social events. While we focus on Tolkien’s work, we also explore the mythology, literature, and history that inspired him.

Our virtual meetings are held via Discord, which functions as our members’ common room. Please join us there to discuss Tolkien and his works, help plan upcoming meetings, and get to know the community. That is also where you’ll find details about online gaming (particularly LOTRO), trivia sessions, virtual crafting nights, watch parties, and more. Anonymous member surveys show that folks who participate on Discord feel like they’re getting more out of the group and are more likely to make friends!

As of January 2023, we are registered as a Smial of the Tolkien Society.

We take breaks for two months of the year, once in winter and once in summer. If you join during a break, don’t worry – the conversation keeps going in the common room.
